All Quiet on the Western Front
Caesarea - Bet Shearim
Judaism has had to find a way to deal with all-encompassing force of western culture. In this tour we will visit Caesaria, the magnificent pagan port city built by King Herod that became the seat of Rome in Judea.
In Caesaria we will be exposed to Roman culture and how Jews dealt with it. In Beit Shearim, the hometown of Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi the editor of the mishna, we will see another paradigm for dealing with western culture.
These ancient towns have much to teach us about issues that Jews struggle with today as they did in ancient times.
